SYMPTOM/CONDITION
An audible "Turn On Pop" could occur in the rear speakers only on 1986 "M" and "E" body vehicles equipped with the rear speaker "power amplifier".
The "pop" will occur when either the ignition is turned on with the radio switch already in the on position, or when the radio is turned on independently.
This condition may be objectionable to some owners of these vehicles. The following information applies only to "Turn On Pop", and should not be used
to attempt to correct a "Turn Off Pop".

REPAIR PROCEDURE
NOTE:
DUE TO THE DIFFERENCE IN THE AMOUNT OF SPACE IN THE DASH PANEL AREA BETWEEN THE "M" BODY 5TH
AVENUE AND THE "E" BODY NEW YORKER VEHICLES, THE REPAIR PROCEDURE WILL BE DIFFERENT. IT IS
IMPORTANT THAT THE REPAIR PARTS BE INSTALLED IN THE DASH PANEL AREA IN SEQUENCE AS DESCRIBED FOR
THE APPROPRIATE VEHICLE.
"E" BODY NEW YORKER
1.
Remove the top cowl cover of the instrument panel.
2.
Remove the power amplifier.
3.
Disconnect the power amplifier from the vehicle wiring harness and discard the existing foam wrap.
4.
Install the suppressor module and harness, PN 4419189, between the power amplifier and the vehicle wiring harness.
